American soldiers photo album ..dated 1944-46 excellent !

excellent original photo album .

The album belonged to an American GI who served in Europe 25th Dec 1944 -April 26th 1946 .

Thankfully he has listed the places visited and dates so we have an outline of his journey throughout Europe ( mostly Germany ) ...he went through 58 towns within Germany during the war .

There are approx 100 original photos showing devastation to buildings and towns within Germany .Locations include Fulda , Kaiserlautern, saarbrucken, wurzburg, kitzingen and Nurnberg.

There are plenty of photos of US Jeeps , Army Trucks and Gi's in uniform .

There are 5 very haunting photos which were taken by the original owner of the album ..these show scenes from Tittling in Germany ...1200 bodies were uncovered "the work of the Nazis " 4th May 1945 ..the bodies are covered by blankets ..Civilian women and children are pictured in one photo digging graves for the bodies , another photo shows women viewing the bodies .

There are a good number of photos of wrecked Luftwaffe planes with Gi's inspecting ( approx 25 photos )..these are at 2 sites Wurzburg and Kitzingen ...planes include ju88 night fighters , He111, ju87 , Focke Wulf Fw190s including 2 photos with US markings .

Several photos ( approx 12 ) show US military aircraft based at Kitzingen . Some nice nose art pics . One photo shows a US Stuart tank upside down after hitting a landmine . 3 good photos show German Panther panzers knocked out at Kitzingen .

Other photos were taken on the siegfried line , nice images of bunkers and coastal defences at Bremerhaven .

This album offers a fascinating insight into this mans war .

British submariners photo album circa 1945 - 48

Original photo album which belonged to a British submariner who appears to have served on HM subs ...Teredo ( built 1944 ) and Tantivy ( built 1943) .

There are approximately 50 photos showing subs , plus over 10 photos taken within submarines . There are also a good number of crew photos . plus a few photos of Royal Navy ships . Many of the photos within the album were taken in Malta .

One distant photo shows U-2348 moored up at Londonderry .

other submarines pictured include HM Artful , Alliance , Tabard , Templar , Trump ,

Royal Navy ships include HMS Duke of York , HMS Unicorn , HMS Resolution , HMS Forth ( sub depot ship )

This is an interesting and rare collection of images ...there are many fine images here for the submarine enthusiast.

New addition .. Spitfire pilots photo album 600 Squadron

Original photograph album which belonged to Pilot G. Webster who appears to have flown with 52 Squadron and then transferred to 600 city of London Squadron. (If anyone is able to provide further details of his service I would love to know more ) . I have also scanned the album pages with captions and also scanned a few newspaper clippings, which relate to his service and an official invitation to the mans parents, when the Queen visited the 600 squadron at Biggin Hill 29th oct 1949.( there are 2 nice photos showing the then Queen walking in front of Spitfires ) .

I believe he served with 52 squadron during late WW2 flying Douglas Dakotas ..and then shortly after WW2 served with 600 squadron circa 1946-1949 ..he may well have also flown Gloster meteor jet fighters . There are 2 photos of Douglas Dakotas in India ...a total of 11 photos showing spitfires and 3 of Gloster Meteors . One nice photo was taken above RAF Thorney island ..runways etc clearly seen ...Also some good photos of uniformed RAF Airmen at rest many of these were taken at Thorney Island .

Locations of photos taken within the album include India, Burma, China, Hong Kong, Tangmere and Thorney Island .

Shortly after the war Webster and others of the 600 hundred took Spitfires over to Cherbourg for an airshow ..a few of the photos relate to this .

Royal Marine Commando photo album 1945-48

John Underhill Served with Royal Marine Commando 1945 -1948 .

Album contains many fascinating photos ..we see training at Deal barracks 932 squad . lympstone in Devon ...Commando training unit at Towyn Wales .

He is then drafted to 45 Commando in Malta in 1947.

Album contains some nice photos of Royal navy ships in Grand harbour , Malta . These include carriers HMS Indefatigable and HMS Triumph ....a few photos of HMS Ajax , a photo of HMT Empress of Australia , heavy submarine k-36 ..

There are also few photos relating to service in special boat section ...we see special boat service submarine HMS Solent in grand harbour and 4 photos of an inflatable canoe "FOL-boat " being pulled out of the subs forward hatch .

New Album German soldiers photos , served in Greece and Crete 1941

Gunter Geucke photo album relates to service during the invasion of Greece and Crete 1941

I have just scanned this excellent album which offers a fascinating glimpse into this mans war time experience . DVD contains over 330 high res scans of individual photos , plus whole page scans showing the original captions . The album is well captioned with locations and dates .

Gunter is seen throughout the album . The album features some good quality photos of German army vehicles . There are photos of StuG III assault guns / panzers . Columns of trucks on the move . Several very nice photos of Kruppe Protze trucks .

3 photos feature a US Douglas Dakota transport plane with German markings ..I believe this plane could have been one of the Dutch KLM planes captured during the invasion of Holland .There are photos of Luftwaffe Ju 52 transport planes Gunter travelled to Crete via one of these planes on 23.5.1941 , during the invasion of the Island, 2 photos were taken within the plane .

Other images include bomb damage to various locations in Greece & Crete , funeral services , Grave sites , Pows , locals going about there daily lives .

The album ends with images of a poorly looking man , Gunter contracted malaria while serving in Crete .

New album ..German officer 6 Gebirgs division Murmansk front Winter 1941-42

I have just finished scanning a new photo album which belonged to a German officer Franz Amberger of 6 Gebirgs division ( mountain troops ) . The album covers service on the Murmansk front during the winter of 1941-1942 . The album contains many good images of winter gear in use . There are also photos of dead Russian soldiers , Russian POW's , machine gun posts etc . This is an album gives a real flavour of the harsh conditions these tough men had to endure .

NEW ADDITION 17th/21st LANCERS REGIMENT PHOTO ALBUM 1937-1939

"Buck Boyd" ..served with the 17th/21st Lancers regiment . The album cover his service in India NWFT 1937-1939. ( he later went on to serve in WW2 ) .

The album has some nice photos of light tanks ..I believe he was a tank driver ..more research required . If you are able to help in tracking this mans WW2 service please contact me .

NEW TANK REGIMENT IN INDIA, NORTH WEST FRONTIER TERRITORY AND AFGHANISTAN IN THE 1930's

Lastest addition to the archive is an excellent photo album which belonged to a member of the tank regiment . He served in India , North west frontier territory and Afghanistan during the 1930s . Album contains many great quality images including over 70 original photographs of armoured cars and light tanks .

There are a total of 195 photos in the album , these give a real flavour of the time.
