BLUE MAX ( POUR LE MERIT ) GERMANYS A HIGHEST WW1 MEDAL AWARDED TO KAPITANLEUTNANT OTTO WUNSCHE 20th DECEMBER 1917 ...THIS WAS GIVEN LARGELY FOR HIS SERVICE ON U-25.
Here I offer a cd produced from an excellent ,extremely rare and original WW1 Photo album , within my collection ,which belonged to W.O. Friedrick Pohl who served on U-25 & SM U33 ..There are 70 1200dpi scans which mostly feature U-25 and its surface attacks on merchant ships .
There are 3 photos which show the Commander of U-25 Kapitanleutnant Otto Wunsche ,who was one of the most successful U-boat aces of WW1 , sinking a total of 76 ships over 182,000 tonnes. He commanded U-25 01.08.1914 -15.09.1915.
The photos on the cd were all taken between 1914-1915 ..at this stage of the war U-boat commanders were instructed to allow crews to leave the ships before attacking with the surface gun . This album contains several named ships where we see the crew departing in rowing boats . Ships which are pictured being attacked and subsequently sinking are as follows;

Norwegian Nordaas ..sunk 09.07.1915 ....Norman Norge 07.08.15....Albis Norge 14.08.15....Iris Norge ( date not known ) .Bras Norge 19.08.15....French ship Antonie sunk by U-33on 03.10.1915..there is also a photo of what I believe to be a British ship ..only identification SH192 .
This album is top quality ,easily my favourite ... good enough to build a book or TV documentary around ....feel free to contact me if you would like the rights to use the images for such a purpose .
