THROUGH THEIR EYES - MILITARY PHOTO ARCHIVE
PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE BRITISH ARMY IN NORTH WEST FRONTIER TERRITORY AND AFGANISTAN 1919

Exactly 90 years ago , young British soldiers were also sacrificing their lives in Afghanistan....I found this album especially interesting as my own grandfather served out there at this time .Here I offer a cd containing 61 high res scans ( 1200dpi ) which will fill your computer screen . These scans were produced from an original photo album which belonged to a soldier serving with the Army Service Corp .The album dates to 1919 . There are some very nice photos of early army trucks / trucks in convoy..other photos show the building of a pontoon bridge at Michni . Our man spent some time at Peshawar ,then moves on to the Kyber Pass .There are 3 photos of fresh gravestones at different locations ,where fellow A.S.C. soldiers died . On one stone 12 men are mentioned ,having died of sun stroke . Another photo shows soldiers by grave stones for recently fallen soldiers at Fort Landi Kortal .There are also 3 photos taken of a large army camp at the Kyber Pass .An interesting snap shot into an earlier conflict in this troubled region .
